Can a baby gate stop a cat?

I want to keep my pets out of a certain area of the house, and a baby gate is the best option. I know cats can jump high, but can they jump over (or climb over) a baby gate?

Nope. Maybe if it’s really fat or old and doesn’t move well. But if it’s an active, agile cat… no such luck!
my cat won’t jump the baby gate but the dog does!
yes, they can jump it.
A determined cat can get over.
To your question can a baby gate stop a cat is a no.
Nope, there is no way a babygate will stop a cat (unless the are extremely fat…hmm…).
Cat’s will always find a way! lol
We tried that with my cat when she was a KITTEN! And she still climbed over it!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
NO!
If you hadn’t noticed, cats jump fairly high. If it’s a kitten… maybe. NOT if it’s grown.
they shall climb it and knock it over
my suggestion………. use a door……. that will stop it
No. You already said that cats can jump high. Baby gates are probably only about 24 inches high. My cats can jump on the the kitchen counters, from there they jump on the fridge.
Perhaps, with training. On other side of gate have newspapers with scotch tape in numerous circles on the newspaper. Each time cat lands on paper & have tape all over fur is a deterant for the next jump.
A baby gate won’t prove to be a deterrent to any cat who’s bent on getting to the other side of it.
even if your cat can’t jump over it it will probably find a way over it
No, cats can jump pretty darned high!
HAHAHA! Not unless the cat is way too fat to jump
Yes – mine can. I have a gate to keep my ferrets out of the kitchen and utility room but the cats can easily hop over it. There are, however, tall gates that you can purchase. I know http://www.drsfostersmith.com carries one.
My cat can jump nearly 6 feet straight up, the only thing that keeps cats penned in is a full length door.
