What dog breed would get along best with my 5 yr old american pitbull terrier?

This item was filled under [ Dog Articles ]

I have a dog named Rocky. He’s an american pitbull terrier and he’s 5 years old. He’s the best dog anyone can have! He’s very loving, and playful and everyone loves him! Me and my fiance are getting married and would like to get a 2nd dog so that Rocky can have a friend! Any advice on what dog breed would get along with him best? We also want a dog that’s smaller than him since we live in an apartment…Thanks!

Well when you’re getting a new dog. You have to make sure that your dog accepts another dog into the family. I think the dog for him would be another american pitbull terrier, but since you want a smaller dog you should do some research about small breeds. When you decide the one you get, see if your pitbull will accept him/her by bringing him along with you. I hope this helps

My advice is wait to get a second dog until you have a home with a yard.

One dog in an apartment is enough.

I agree, you should probably get a house first but when you do i suggest to get another pit even a pit mix would be fine. :)

I think you should get a female Pitbull. They can be much smaller than some of the males. You will be able to find one at a shelter or check petfinder.com or Pitbull Rescue. It would be great since you already know how to train them.

This is more a temperament concern than a breed concern. Consider fostering a dog your dog seems to like to see if he or she is a good addition to your family. My female APBT plays well with my neighbors male Boxer. As for size perhaps a Boston Terrier.
