Where can I find a "pet gate" that stands at least 4 feet tall?

This item was filled under [ Pet Gate ]

We have a pet gate, about 2 feet tall, but our dog can jump over it when we are gone, and he goes in the living room, messes on the carpet, etc… We put him outside before leaving, he just gets mad at us for leaving him alone… Anyway, he learned to jump over the gate and I don’t want a shock collar! So, I was wondering, if there’s a really tall "pet gate", about 4 feet tall ( I’m sure that’ll do)

Thank you very much!

    Here you go: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=1121&N=2001+114005

You may want to consider a crate, which is a better containment option, anyway. And: he could not jump or climb out of it.

Didn’t mention your country, but by me there’s PetSmart. Farm and Fleet is a great store also.

You can get child gates at Toys ‘R Us. They cost less than the gates sold at pet supply stores and they serve the same function.

Considering most doorways are only 6 feet high, I highly doubt you’ll be able to find a pet gate that high. Most are only 2.5 ft high. Try training your dog to go to the bathroom on newspapers, or get a doggy door so he can go outside as he pleases. Assuming that you have a fenced yard, of course. If all else fails, sounds like he might need training classes.

You could always try a child gate, some of them are pretty tall. They’re also very sturdy. If that doesn’t work out for you, why don’t you get a crate for him? Just make sure the crate is big enough so he can move around a bit.

The height depends on the size of the dog. You’d be surprised at how high some dogs can jump. As for a taller gate, go to a larger pet stone or even the lumber yard and build one yourself! There is also a reason why the dog messes on the carpet. It could be stress or it might even be a health problem. As a side note, dogs don’t get mad like we do, it’s stress. Dogs are pack animals and when we leave them alone, they don’t understand why the pack had been broken up. Therefore, they get all stressed out and exhibit what we call bad behaviour. Sorry if this sounds like phsyco-babble, I just try to put myself in my dogs shoes to figure out what he might be thinking.

    All the best, good luck…

I would go to walmart and buy TWO baby gates that are spring loaded so you can adjust them to your doorway. You could put one one the bottom and another over that to give it the height you need. Or you could make a doorway yourself with plywood and some hinges. I hope you don;t leave him home alone too long, that will make a dog lonely and bored. Make sure you leave him lots of toys and a chew bone. If all else fails, maybe a crate would work but please remember that dogs do get bored !!!

btw—you can buy 2 pressure mounted gates at walmart for 20$—the one listed below (extra tall) is over $60 !!!!!

The 2 best places you can find a pet gate that stands at least 4 feet tall would be pets mart or target.

    GOOD LUCK!!
