Are there any baby gates (pet gates maybe) that can block off an 8' area?

I have been looking and I don’t really want to wall mount anything in my living room. My baby is almost 1 year old and I’d like to have something that I can easily take down and reposition depending where I’d like him to play. Any clues?

You should do a shopping google on this, I know I have seen them in those safety-oriented child catalogues. I have also seen a toy that includes a plastic "fence" that attaches to a "wall" with things to play with on it.
we had a play yard for my son from toysrus and when he got to big for it attached it to other things to keep him away from them it worked good for us and when its unfolded its very big and you can buy extenders
have fun baby safetying your house mine took me until he was 11 months to get right lol but there forever changing so what worked last week might not this week xx
sure, we have one that spans that long its not exactly pressure mounted but easy to install and uninstall. also yo you can buy an extension for it to make it longer or create a blocked off are for a child to play.
its kind of pricey, but you can sell it on craigslist after you are done using it for a decent amount.
check it out on amazon

I second the Superyard that Heather Y suggested. We use it to block off our TV and the entrance way to the family room. We tuck one section behind the couch so she can’t escape. As long as you have it bent at angles, it is fairly sturdy.
I couldn’t find any gates when we were looking that were longer than 6 feet.
We got ours from Babies R Us. You can get the extension too (we did), and it makes for a nice big play area. We love ours. My husband calls it her "cage," and I hate that, but it comes in handy when you need a safe place to play. I don’t remember what it’s called and I’m too lazy to get up and look, but you can find it on the Babies R Us website.
