Double Dog Dare: Brace Tricks

This item was filled under [ Dog Articles ]

www.pamsdogtraining.com I just started really working on a double dog routine for canine freestyle. It is much more difficult than it looks. I think that the positions are difficult to train with a single dog routine but even more difficult with a double dog routine. I have found that it is extremely important to continue working with each dog separate and then work with them together. I am only working on tricks that both dogs know really well right now. Eventually we will get better, but we are just having a BLAST with the process. To me the fun part is doing the training and working(PLAYING) with my dogs. We enjoy every moment we have together! Have a great day! Pam, Isabelle, Bandit & Twix

when you had one on each side, doing the turns, it looked FABULOUS!

@breemaebreemae Thanks! That is the easy one, but when they both work on one side and then the other, that is the difficult one. :) I can’t be too hard on them, this was their first training session where they worked on the same side. :) They are both really wonderful dogs! Very motivated to work! :)

You are an AMAZING dog trainer! And the bond between you and your dog is phenomenal as well! I truely hope that one day my puppy and I will share the same bond that you share with your dogs :) Also, thank you for sharing all of this with us, we greatly appreciate it!

Are these purebred bordercollies or mixes? I mean, they look HUGE. My adult white swiss shepherd-male is as big as them. Or even a bit smaller. :O

Anyways, very beautiful dogs, I like their structure. And well-trained as well! ;)

Another fabulous video Pamela!!! A complete pleasure to watch. I agree with breemaebreemae, both dogs walking and spinning at your side looks stunning, easy or not, it’s a show stopper! Your “boys” did great…just wondered if Isabel EVER finds a critter??? LOL!!!

@lexisdogs Thanks! I know, it is harder than it looks. However, it is getting easier the more that I work with them together. :) Good for you! I would love to see what you and your dogs are doing together. :) )

@Mustasiipi They are purebred BCs. Yep, they are pretty tall boys. :) Thank you!!

@maylacie Isabelle finds critters, but they are under that building and she can’t get to them. She tries really hard. :) Thank you for your nice comment. The more I work with them on the brace routine stuff the better they get. :) Now if I could just quit my job and only train my dogs, then we would make progress. HAHA!

@Majoofi Brace is a canine freestyle term that basically means a double dog routine. :) I think a brace routine can have two or more dogs in it. :)

@pamelamarxsen The same goes for me! The more time working with them together = the easier it gets! :) I am planning on uploading a video of our “double dog tricks” soon (well after we practice some more) ;)
