PARVO CLEAN UP QUESTION?
Ok I had a Chihuahua that recently survived parvo (diagnosed a month ago) he is fully recovered listening to my vet I have cleaned all areas where he was inside my home with a 50/50 bleach solution. Now I never let him in the living room before but now that is where I keep him I cleaned it with bleach and have puppy gates blocking entrances into the living room. I know he can get the virus again so here’s my questions, when someone enters his room to pet him would germ-x kill the virus on there hands? What about there clothing/ shoes? He only goes potty in a certain spot in the yard with my carrying him to and from it (outdoor kennel) but I didn’t have it when he contracted the virus so I’m really worried about someone tracking it in the house. Is there anything else I can do? Please no rude comments he is my baby and I know I’m being a little crazy with this but I want to avoid all chances of him getting it again thanx and have a blessed day!

Your efforts of cleanliness will pay off for your baby.
Bleach and water is the best deterrent for remaining parvo virus, other than fire. By keeping all his waste to a designated area, you are also preventing the spread of this horrible disease. Since the virus is spread through contact with feces, your guests should not be at risk of visiting. Clean his travel kennel often, with the same bleach and water solution.
I volunteer with wild animals, we’ve had parvo in our raccoon populations, and take extreme care in NOT cross contaminating one cage to another. We wear gloves and gowns, bleach everything that comes in contact with our critters, dishes, bedding, toys etc. When our cages are emptied at the end of the season (orphans are released when grown) we use fire to sanitize them before the following years residents.
I thought that if a dog had parvo and survived the vet could still give them a parvo shot to help them not catch it again or at least reduce the effects of it. I would talk to the vet again and explain to them the measures you are taking.
Usually Parvo happens during the pup stage of the animals, just make sure you have the dropping picked up because that’s the main area where the illness is contracted from. Once he reaches a year or more he should be fine.
Just make sure all droppings and dropping areas are clean, then you won’t have to worry about him getting it again. If someone comes into pet him just make sure they wash their hands before and after.
He should get better and you’ll have less to worry about
