How can you tell if your dog is enjoying the whole dog park experience?

This item was filled under [ Dog Articles ]

My dog is a little bit fearful and excitable. When we visit the dog park, she seems to have some fun (plays and runs with some dogs), but she also seems a little bit nervous and unsure around other dogs. She always shakes it off (like when she’s wet) after we exit the gates to leave. Should I keep taking her and hope she overcomes her shyness, or am I doing more harm than good?

I would keep taking, but if you feel like it’s all getting a bit much for her sometimes leave the park early.
I think it’s good for them to have a runaround with other dogs and i am sure she will get used to it as time goes by.

I would keep bringing her unless you are taking her somewhere else for socialization.

My puppy was shy, I kept bringing him around other dogs just to help him overcome being such a chicken. He now rolls around with my cousin’s pit bull and he thinks he’s the stud of the neighborhood.

Yes, keep taking her. This is a good way to socialize and bond with other dogs. Its great for dogs with big fears. It makes them become more independent and loyal.

Perhaps the dog park is overwhelming for her. Maybe you should try socializing her with other dogs in a less busy environment. Once she is used to being around other dogs, the dog park will be a lot of fun for her!
